I’m Done Collecting Countries

Twilight sky over rolling hills with the words I am done collecting countries, fewer places longer stays.

What are your future travel plans?

Five cities in ten days. A photo at every landmark. Home with a full camera roll and not one memory that actually stuck. That was my idea of travel for years. I’m done with it.

So here’s the new plan: go slower. Pick one place and stay long enough that the café owner starts recognising me. Long enough to get bored, then curious again. Long enough that I stop being a tourist and just live somewhere else for a while.

Top of the list is Edinburgh. Not for the castle or the postcard shots. I want to wake up there on an ordinary Tuesday with nothing booked. No itinerary. A coffee, a slow walk up some rain-soaked close, and a day I didn’t plan.

I want to learn the city the boring way. Find the café no guidebook lists. Take the wrong bus and figure it out. Stand on a hill in the wind for no reason at all.

The dream trip stopped being a place. It became a pace.

So tell me: where would you go if you had nowhere to be, and no photos to prove it?
